Description This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor transport activities at interchanges including monitoring transport and passenger movements, identifying and attending to coordination problems, and informing customers of irregularities. Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Monitor transport and passenger movements
  • Passenger and vehicle movements are monitored and recorded following workplace procedures
  • Passenger and vehicle movement irregularities are identified and recorded and possible solutions are provided
  • Timetables are monitored to identify variations and recommend where action is required
  • Documentation is completed in accordance with workplace requirements to maintain transport movement records
       
Element: Identify coordination problems
  • Problems with services coordination are reported promptly and possible solutions are submitted to the relevant authority
  • Irregularities with internal systems are reported promptly according to organisation procedures
       
Element: Inform customers of irregularities
  • Communications systems and equipment are operated in accordance with workplace policies and procedures to make necessary announcements
  • Passengers are informed of irregularities and service changes promptly, clearly and courteously
  • Transport service adjustments are conveyed to transport system staff

access to an appropriate range of relevant operational situations in the workplace

In both real and simulated environments, access is required to:

relevant and appropriate materials and equipment, and

applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals

Method of assessment

Assessment of this unit must be undertaken by a registered training organisation

As a minimum, assessment of knowledge must be conducted through appropriate written/oral tests

Practical assessment must occur:

through activities in an appropriately simulated environment at the registered training organisation, and/or

in an appropriate range of situations in the workplace
